Launching our ‘made in Somerset’ linen range

Launching our ‘made in Somerset’ linen range

We’ve officially opened our ‘made in Somerset’ sustainable linen homeware and clothing e-store this month (September 2021).

Our seamstresses are working hard on our newly unveiled new mail order collection of environmentally sound, bespoke bedding and home textile products.

Sustainability

Our Director, Carole Champion, says: “Creating handmade sustainable products is central to our ethos. We appreciate how important it is to make items that are planet-positive while also being stylish and practical too.

“Linen is a sustainable fabric, as the entire flax plant can be woven into a fibre, which means that almost no waste is left over from the spinning and weaving process. It’s also durable, so it stands the test of time, and wear and tear, better than most other materials.”

Creating jobs

“We also understand the need to create and sustain jobs locally and have a team of eight working on the project. The rebranding of All Sewn Up has allowed us to expand and create four new job opportunities too.

“My husband and fellow Director, Tim, and I took on All Sewn Up Ltd as part of our portfolio of businesses in 2020 but wanted to develop and re-brand the concept before re-launching it. Despite the issues related to Covid, we’ve spent the last 18 months working on re-creating the company and the range of products it makes and services it offers.”

Expertise and craft

“Our team of extraordinary seamstresses use their expertise and knowledge to produce handmade products to order and often to measure. While we do off the peg and shelf options, most of our items are all made-to-order, so can be crafted to suit every individual customer’s needs.

“In addition to the products we make for mail order nationwide, we also do repairs and adjustments, offer upholstery services and create custom-made orders. Some of these have previously included sleeping mats, bags and seats for motorcycle racing. More recently we’ve made bespoke covers for a trike and a kit car too. The options are endless!”

Upholstery and more

Our team also has experience in upholstery and creating covers for numerous items in various shapes and sizes including other vehicles, musical instruments, garden equipment and soft furnishings to name just a few.

Bespoke mail order

Carole continues: “We’ve exciting times are ahead with our new range of bespoke mail order bedding and home textile products including linen cross-back and garçon aprons, napkins, coasters, tablecloths, placemats, cutlery holders and dressing gowns, and we’re shortly introducing more new collections. We’ve lots in the pipeline. You can see all our new products here.

Long-lasting quality

“As well as our specialist approach using beautiful linens to create our own range of bespoke products, we will still be offering repairs and upholstery services.

“They include, but are not limited to, making made-to-measure covers for all manner of items, such as different modes, shapes and sizes of transport, technical instruments, garden furniture, as well as doing clothing repairs and alterations, and curtain making.

Nimble fingers

“Before Tica Lily was established, our seamstresses had experience working on a number of covers for various projects, such as light aircraft, classic cars and boats, so are adept at turning their nimble fingers to anything really!

“The list is by no means exhaustive and with Tica Lily we have extended our services and have even made a swimming pool cover, another for a pergola, repaired counterpanes, made and repaired covers for sofas, chairs and motorhome furnishings, amended several sets of curtains, replaced countless zips and Velcro and even produced a chiminea cover! There isn’t much our talented team can’t do between them.”
